He always has good stuff. Still beta but looks pretty interesting.

He does, indeed.  I regularly use several of his Lightroom plugins.  This one isn't new, however: he made the Beta available in 2011, and has since updated it many times.  (See the change log at the bottom of the link (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/layers).)
