Hi Russ,

The shot has that color graphical quality that often attracts me.

Russ, the shot succeeds on many levels.

Very nice. I think the reflection on the foreground table really makes this image stronger. The overall balance is what strikes me most.

Well, Russ, you've certainly caught Star Wars. And the King of Beers. Not to mention my personal vision of hell!

As Keith says, you got it on many levels.

A very fine image!

Just noticed, Russ: not a pretty girl - or any girl - in sight, in the flesh or as optimistic reproduction on the walls!

Is this normal in Florida? I know that they do have the "happy" community well-repesented, but man, this is severe!

What were you doing there?

Thanks all for the comments.

And, Rob: this bar is in a mall. The space used to be occupied by a retail store. Most malls in the U.S. are gradually sinking into history as a result, I’d guess, of Amazon and the ability of shoppers to see competitive prices on the web. This mall is no exception to that trend. The space that used to be occupied by a large Target store was converted into a bowling alley and amusement center. Here’s another shot from a couple years ago. Since then it appears they’ve realized that “redemption” isn’t quite the right word for the booth that pays off your winnings, so the sign’s gone. The bar, which is just inside the corridor doors is set up to appeal to passers-by. I made the bar shot just after 1 p.m., so I’d guess these guys are regulars. They're probably more interested in booze than in women.

It's a real tragedy seeing how life is heading.

Even here, little shops that used to sell this and that, and even some of the other are gone; many haven't been replaced by anything except covered windows and To Let signs. My favourite local camera store in Scotland went in the 80s/90s and the wholesaler I used here in Mallorca followed soon after digital swept the field. Studios I knew in Glasow vanished before I did, after decades of steady work in industry and engineering. I've lost touch with litho printers who used to do my calendar runs for me, but I did look for one or two online some time ago and nada. Maybe they have been bought up and changed name - who knows? I know a guy here who used to make a nice living as a specialised agent reserving massive used printing machines in Europe and selling them on, mostly to clients in the States.

These days, mostly he walks his dog or sits with his beer (and pooch) at his favourite pavement tables and reads the English newspapers. When America sneezes...

Try to find a cobbler anywhere. Wth the crap we buy as shoes, what woud he be able to do?

Nice catch, Russ.
My only quibble is that the guy on the big screen seems to be hoisting a cup of coffee instead of a beer.   ;)

It's a spouse dump. Meanwhile, the spouses are crashing the banks mainframe.

In the circumstances, the spouses deserve something out of life.
