Mother and Child, from the streets of Varanasi.

You're a master at informal portraiture Keith. Very nice.

Thanks, Russ, really, very much appreciated!
Informal captures they certainly are, typically I'm lucky if I get more than a second or two for these shots.
I just wish that we weren't limited here to tiny jpgs with the resulting artifacts and subtle colour changes when converting from larger colour gamut files and work spaces for online use. The skin colour and gradation of tone has suffered here.

Russ is right about that.

Like the song, I second that emotion!! Just wonderful informal environmental portraits, which I like much more than formal portraits.

Eric, John, many thanks.
It's strange, until a few years ago I had never photographed people, just wasn't interested, but now it's just about all I want to do.
-
It's all I want to do too Keith, but nowadays it's rarely going to happen for me. I think that people really are what the camera was invented for.

Yes, Russ, certainly the most compelling activity I've experienced with camera in hand.
Above all I have my wife to thank for she is my facilitator, is naturally gregarious, comfortable interacting with people even when there's not a common language. She undoubtedly opens doors that would be closed to a less than gregarious, lone male photographer. She is also an accomplished image maker.
Russ, I wish you well and hope you find the opportunity to continue with what is obviously your passion.

I can't let this one go by, what did you photograph before you became interested in people and their environments?

Mainly architecture, but also nature and horticulture: cats, even!
