I suppose if you have the eye for design it probably is universally applicable.

I think so too, and if you hang around studios you can hardly avoid picking up techniques, especially if you become involved in art directing stuff at the same time.

The only reason I had a clue about designing calendars was from doing exactly that in art departments: watching closely as they worked on my photos. Letraset; tracing paper overlays... Love/hate.

That said, would KL have had the time to work on computers with his stuff? For many, I think the buzz is in the shooting; it certainly was for me.
