Title: Sunrise and a setting Moon
Post by: KMRennie on January 25, 2019, 09:16:59 am
The English Lake District again. This time the day after the driving snow boat scenes. What a difference a day makes! Looking West as the sun started to rise behind me illuminating the tops of the Fells to the West. The wisp of cloud was a lucky bonus, in fact it was all luck as I had planned to take totally different images with the forecast mist and calm waters and just glanced and saw this. Initially I was disappointed not to be able to get the moon against one of the dramatic mountains but on reflection find the rounded hill adds to the calm mood, or at least it does to me. Ken

Impossible to be disappointed with those two superb shots! I like the different triangles in the second one but the first one is just as nice (simpler, just the moon and the top of the mountain).
Well done!

Fantastic. I think I prefer #1, more simplistic, with just the mountain, snow, and wispy cloud.

Nifty! In #2 the lower area maybe competes tonally with the sky. Or complements it, depending on your POV.  :)

Thanks for the kind comments. I note that I have used a different colour balance in the two shots, I processed the a day apart and din't look at the first whilst processing the second. I can't decide which I prefer but processed as daylight balance they would both have much higher levels of blue and magenta. Ken

Both will look beautiful as prints on a wall.

Tremendous composition and IQ. Was this the f=200mm again?

You're convincing me to take a heavier lens backpacking...

Rog first one 185mm second 200mm. It is the f4 version of Nikon's 70-200 I am not sure I would go walking with the f2.8 Ken

Both are wonderful.  If I have to chose one, I would take #1 for its simplicity.

Totally agree - fantastic!

Really nice couple of shots. I would have done something similar. Worked out very nicely for you!
