Title: Pano - River
Post by: maddogmurph on January 06, 2019, 05:02:26 pm
Did a quick and dirty attempt at fixing color theory, light bleed, and darkening that right side for overall balance.

The light bleed is overdone... should I remove the blue gorilla? Thoughts on color theory, balance, composition etc?

What is "color theory" in the sense you use it?

I like the clarity of the second photo.  It's as simple as that.

The control of the highlights on the right side is better on the first. I also prefer the slightly warmer colour balance, though, I’m sure others might like the cooler #2.

Agree.  The foliage on the left is very warm.  Putting that next to cool water looks artificial.  Either warm up the water, or cool off the foliage.

While the human figure adds interest, the bright blue is a bit jolting.

But to your point Slobodan, I actually haven't identified which color theory is best applied here. I think it's split complementary. Potentially that's why warming up the sky in the second, cooling the water, cooling the foliage, enhancing the brightness and saturation of the yellows seemed to add a subtle move in the right direction in terms of overall color harmony in the second. (Aslo darkening the trees on the right).
