Title: epson7890 to Z3200
Post by: Larry451 on December 21, 2018, 06:47:37 pm
HI,  Just bought the Z3200 44" on sale from B&H and brought it into Canada.   I've had many epsons  7000 7600 7900  7890 and finally got tired of watching print heads die, so now the HP.   I'm on a i-mac 10.13.6 connected to the HP Z3200 with Ethernet cable direct + I've tried with usb +_  downloaded the latest drivers and I can't get the mac to talk to the printer?   with the HP utility I get the message  HP utility cannot work with shared devices  connect your device directly to your mac to work with it. which it is (connected directly)
any suggestions
I"m at a loss
regards
Larry.

You have to update the appropriate utilities also. I’m on a Mac with that os and also on a pc .

Call Hp support and they will talk you through it and keep you on the phone untill it’s working.

Hi,

I have had Designjet 2100, 2x 3100, 2x3200 and 2x 6100.

Now i have only one z3200 left.

In my experience, the HP printheads don't last very long. But hey are affordable (the 2100/3100/3200 ones).

I have done the opposite, moved from HP to Epson. Very happy with the quality of the Epson machines.

In my experience over 12.5 years the Z print heads last a long time. As long as my $ 450.00 Canon heads and much easier to replace and wasting no ink in the process.

But untill we find out more about the new Z series black and white capability it’s kind of a moot point because I believe the 3200 series are about sold out and now discontinued.

Just get one of these:
LAN SWITCH (https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Ethernet-Splitter-Unmanaged-TL-SF1005D/dp/B000FNFSPY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1545610620&sr=8-3&keywords=ethernet+switch+2+port)
It's all you need to do. Plug your router into the switch and plug the printer into the switch and you'll be good to go.
That way you can also plug other printers into the switch as well.

Good luck with your Z - good move!

Mark

I have a large box with switches cables and everything mac but no Lan switch..  I will order one today.   I don't understand why connecting directly from mac to printer doesn't work but I'll just add that to the many "things" I don't quite understand.

Crossover cable? The LAN switch negotiates this automatically.
