Title: Photo chain challenge - minimalism
Post by: PeterAit on December 12, 2018, 11:05:51 am
I was motivated to start this thread after finding this wonderful (IMO) photo after our recent snow storm.

Perhaps not as minimal as Russ's, but maybe a tad more interesting (IMHO.)

Not to put on damper on things Peter, but if you search the files, you will come across a thread for semi-minimalism started by Pieter. Some interesting work there.

Thank you Peter, Keith, and John.
(Or, to fit this thread I should simply say: "Thanks!" )

Oh dear! I hope we aren't going to need to start a heated discussion about which is the One True Genre: Semi-minimalism or Minimalism-Photo chain.

To be clear I don't mind continuing with this new thread. That is the nature of posts, old stuff all but disappears.

Ballerina bearing the cold to dance before the winds take her away; somewhat similar to Peter's winter scene.

Nice, Peter.
But I find it hard to choose between P1000069.jpg and P1000069.jpg .   :D

Hey, don't knock it, Eric. I entered a couple woodcuts in a juried show once and the grand prize winner was three blank canvasses a little lighter than this one, arranged at random. My woodcuts didn't win anything.

That's true minimalism in a couple ways.

Maybe you should have entered two, or even just one, blank canvas.
Surely that would be more minimalist than three, and might well have won.

Good point. Too bad I didn't think of it.

I think this is sort of minimalist.

Photo chain with minimalism is an oxymoron. Since there is only something minimally present, there is only something minimal to link to. I think Russ got it right ;)

One could argue that the photo you included in this post is even more minimalist than Russ's.   ;)

Reminds me of the postcards which showed "Tokyo in the fog".

Perhaps one can think of it this way: you can always link using minimalism itself as the common theme. Tautology then?
