Title: Saving paper on 9800
Post by: jensenfish on October 26, 2006, 06:20:30 pm
When I insert a new roll of paper almost a foot of it is wasted before the printing begins.  Any suggestions out there on getting by this?
Thanks,
Jensen

That certainly does not happen with my 9800. The lead is a few cm. Your situation should be checked out. Maybe if you detail your workflow one of us may be able to spot something. Does it happen all the time and with different paper size settings? Sometimes it is worthwhile to reload latest drivers and firmware from Epson (USA). You may have a corruption somewhere.

When using roll stock, switch the paper type on the control panel to sheet and then lock the lever down and let it initialize. Then switch it back to roll media. The printer will start printing with minimal loss of media.

THANK YOU MARTY.  That did the trick.  I thought there should be a simple solution.
Many thanks...

I had this problem too on my 9800 when I switched to either Fine Art or the Velvet roll paper, (I switched to roll wo/cutter at the same time) and it ejected quite a bit when loading a roll.

Yesterday I put a roll of Enhanced Matte in and switched to roll w/cutter (same time) and it didn't eject any extra and was fine.

Could this be the same problem?
