That is nature in the raw. I'm not sure how you can identify the merganser, however. Did you see the whole grab before the dismemberment?

Pointy beak plus webbed feet, non-wading waterfowl, and not black (not an Anhinga) - some merganser or other.

so his buddy came by and grabbed the merganser. slightly younger eagle
