Title: Multi-pass printing on Epson 3880 and front loading
Post by: PhR on November 23, 2018, 03:32:21 am
Hi,

Using the 3880, I print several time on the same sheet of paper (multi-pass printing).

The 3880 accept this with rear and top loading but not from front loading and front loading is where I can position a (thick) paper sheet in the most precise way. When front loading an already printed sheet, the head scan it entirely but does not print at all. I guess it detects that the sheet is already printed and refuses to print again on it.

Do someone know a solution to this, whether it is software or hardware ?

Thanks,

PhR

I don't know, but I am curious as to why. I doubt it has a detection system for this...

Have you tried 2880, finest detail, high speed off and color density at +10 or +20%?
Might give you the same results.
Just trying to determine the method to the madness.

Thanks for these suggestions.

I tried increasing density but it closes the shadows and I use the multi-pass process to reinforce them where I want.
I did not try to move from 1440 to 2880. I will.
I didn't try finest details but I thought it was just a kind of sharpening.
For the speed, it is set to slow. I also increased drying time. It significantly reduces mottling. I increase it to the maximum for the final print.
