Hi,
No great images, but the pair of them tells a story...

I'm occasionally doing this, sometimes for quick sharing (even if I can get it from the camera, it's much faster if I take it on my phone) and sometimes just because.
-
I do it sometimes to note the location, not having GPS available in my “big camera”

I only use the phone for documentation photos like when I'm taking apart a printer so I know how to put it back together. I get zero satisfaction taking photos with a phone...so why take them?

The newer phones can take some really good photos, sometimes good enough.

It's not the result I'm concerned about...it's the process of taking a photo with a phone...just does not spur on any vision for me. For a quick snap of where a bolt goes...great...for anything that takes an ounce of creativity...not a chance.

The answer lies in the feet: she's just practised her moon walk.
Thing is, she has to learn to keep the front foot up on the toe until the snap reverse and drag; muscular memory will help - eventually.
I thought the visual message had been that some people find gazing into a large screen more intuitive than peeping into a veiwfinder; no idea it was really all about "amazing" your "friends". So there you go: Crowd l : Rob 0.

Interesting that even with her spanky new Nikon Z7 she only peers at the screen like a phone.......so much for that wonderful v/f when you're a true child of tech! And that camera is so heavy and bulky and weird and expensive and .....well, OLD!

I’m more bothered by the neck strap that is not around her neck! I compulsively anchor my cameras with at least a wrist strap

Hopefully, our eye and the world around us spur the vision, not a camera or phone. The phone, however, is always with me... camera isn't.

Oddly, her Z7 seems to be sporting a G-master lens.

She shoots she scores. Whereas the other two shooters are all talk and no action.

Whatever turns your crank. If I'm out to take photos...I'll bring a camera...otherwise I just enjoy the world around me without having a need or desire to capture an image of it.

I do that (cam + "phone") more often nowadays, especially since getting a smartgizmo with an optional longer "portrait" lens. Using a Raw-producing app (currently ProCamera) I can switch off the computational blurring and take a deep-DOF version of something I might be capturing wide open or close to it with my proper camera & lens.

The same in return: I have no "moral objections" to your approach, but I would not turn down an unexpected opportunity to photograph an interesting sight just because I was not planning on doing photography when I left home.

I don't think it's a Z7, more likely an a7.
Cheers,

A7/Z7, same difference!.......They're all expensive 'phone-fodder' now......

It's pretty clearly a Sony, see the orange mount.
While I do often set myself to take photos and prepare for it properly I don't let the lack of preparation stand between me and a good shot even if the phone is all I have. Many times I curse that I didn't have a better camera and I only got a teaser but it happens to be good enough, often enough, that I still try. The exception is when I know for certain that the phone will fail, such as a scene requiring significant telephoto.
