Could not pass up adoramas sale price for a Z3200PS printer(to replace the one lost in a fire) I havent printer in over 18 monts and can not remember the sequence for installing the printer. After physically unboxing, removing all the tape and loading in the print heads and ink do i need to perform a firmware upgrade and then install the print drivers? I am running on a 27" 2012 iMac running OS 10.13.2
Looking for a step by step guide for set up and printing from photoshop
thanks

Navigate to the software and driver downloads page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-designjet-z3200-photo-printer-series/3737540
Then download the following drivers and software - image attached: (Don't download "HP CLICK")
The firmware should be fine, particularly as they don't include a firmware update for OS 10.13 yet.
Make sure you install the utility, then add a new printer in your mac and I recommend installing the raster driver (you can add a post script driver later if you wish).
It would be best to connect your laptop to the printer via a LAN (Local Area Network) and not USB.
If you don't have a LAN, it would be best if you got a LAN switch and an adapter to adapt you laptop to the Lan switch. So it goes LAN switch to internet> printer to switch>computer to switch.
The printer should have a quick start guide in the setup instructions.

how do the postscript and raster drivers differ?

The Z3200-PS version includes HPGL-2 functions which increases the print length.
Also, with PS driver - you have the ability to print in CMYK.
You can include several things from the print interface, such as crop marks, notations, etc.
I mostly use the raster driver - it allows for 16 Bit printing.
More here from HP:

You can create two different printers in your system - one using the raster driver and the other using the Post Script driver which HP says was created to vector graphics. Depending on which driver you want to use, you choose which one in the utility. Also, you choose which printer you want to print from in the print dialog in PS or LR or QImage.

Thank you again Mark for the assistance.
