Title: Plugin Extension Issue after CS6 update - Roundabout fix
Post by: t6b9p on September 10, 2018, 06:29:41 pm
This may be an obscure problem and solution but may be helpful to some, although one part required a MacBook to fix an Adobe/Windows 7 issue.

For those still using CS6 - I ran in to an issue with some of Adobe and purchased plugin extensions not functioning correctly after the last CS6 update.

1) Adobe extensions such as Mini Bridge and Kulher would not function on either my MacBook Pro laptop or Windows 7 Professional desktop.
2) Some paid for installed plugins produced a black/blank window when selected in the Mac or Windows system.
3) Some paid for (zxp) plugins not yet installed, would install fine on the MBP but not on the Windows system.

Issue 1 and 2 was fixed as follows:
MacBookPro -  using terminal: defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.3 PlayerDebugMode 1
Windows - registry edit the following path (for CS6) HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Adobe / CSXS.3
then right-click on the right pane and insert a String value and name it PlayerDebugMode and set its value to 1

Issue 3 was harder to fix. I was unable to install some "new" zxp plugins. It seemed related to the zxp file extension and the unzipping of that file using Adobe Extension Manager (yes I was using the correct version). Googling suggested some 3rd party extension managers and some other flaky file extension modification approaches, none of which worked. However, last resort (which seemed crazy) solved the problem.

Here is the $2300 solution.
I copied all the appropriate installed plugin files from the MacBook Pro installation directories, found the appropriate W7 directories, dropped them in and ..... hey presto, everything works fine.
