Challenging place to photograph.  Nice image.  How far did you have to walk out to find this nice pattern?

A beautiful sky with the classical BW salt patterns, it's always a pleasure for the eyes.

Hello Kevin, glad you enjoyed the photo! Yes indeed, Badwater is always extremely inspiring and stimulating for me, I love exploring these patterns in search for the "polygon of my heart"! :) About the walk, not more than usual.

Vieri,

Very nice near-far composition. I see you used a super-wide lens to capture as much near as possible.  Was it very low light to require such a long exposure?
I have to try to find a super wide lens for my Phase One camera. Soes anyone know if there are some old Mamiya lenses in the super wide range that will work with the modern cameras?
Thanks,

John

John,

thank you for your comment, I am glad you enjoyed it! :) About the exposure, it was a choice, I added a ND filter to bring it down to 2 minutes. About lenses for your PhaseOne, when I used Phase back in the day you could definitely use old Mamiya lenses on it; though, to be fair, optical quality was nowhere as good as modern Schneider lenses. About ultra-wide, I guess it depends on your definition of ultra-wide: as far as I know, there isn't any rectilinear lens (non fish-eye) as wide as 15mm FOV equivalent for any medium-format system, not just for PhaseOne. I think currently the widest MF rectilinear lens for Medium Format is the 21mm Hasselblad-X for the X1D, which is roughly FOV equivalent to 17mm. Phase goes down to 28mm, Leica S and Hasselblad H to 24mm :)

Hope this helps, best regards

Vieri
