Title: Strange PS behavior
Post by: saiguy on August 07, 2018, 05:10:36 pm
Was editing a photo scan in PS opened via Original from LR Edit In menu. Mostly clean up stuff, but also Neat Image Noise Reduction and Focus Magic sharpening. Also 2 passes of LSI SRDx clean up. Not sure if any of this matters to what happened next.

Using Mac OS, PS & LR all latest versions. At least I'm pretty sure they are the latest.

Then I made a final last minor edit, don't remember what tool, was on the top layer, layer 6. Then ALL edits vanished. My History states are set for 100. Going back 100 states, still the same. Turning off the eyeballs layer by layer, still the same. Option clicking the background layer, exactly the same.

Big Ouch. What to do?

So I saved from PS back to LR with the layers. In LR the edits stuck. Opened the layered file "original" back to PS and the edits stuck but no history states, which is probably normal.

Flattened the file, saved and returned to LR and all the edits stuck.

Any insights what happened?

I figured out what happened. The same thing just occurred and I noticed my external monitor got switched from PS to LR. So I was seeing the original file in LR that had not yet been saved.

The PS was showing on the lap top. I could click eye balls, etc., but nothing changed as explained above. That's also why saving kept the PS edits.
