Title: Ciné inspiration: Ulrich Seidl / Lars Von Trier
Post by: Ivo_B on August 02, 2018, 03:21:30 pm
As Rob C suggested and a do agree, looking at great ciné work inspires. I find inspiration in the camerawork of the Austrian Cineasts Ulrich Seidl. His themes are always 'difficult and controversial'

See and enjoy

Lars Von Trier is another cineast who's films very 'photographical'

One possible problem with looking at a lot of film, though, is budget: much of what we see is based on sets, people with a special look that is as much their own as that of the makeup artists and the wardrobe department.

That said, there is the undeniable added glow from motion:

She looks pretty good, even with minimal movements, but if you trawl through the backlog of Lindbergh "making of" clips, the video photographer's work often appears more interesting than Peter's stills! (Don't tell him, or a video man might lose his job.)

As I suggest, for us in the "am." world, movies can give inspiration, but with that, the sense of being totally outgunned. Be prepared for modest success, and if it comes, be happy!
