There seems to be a lot of moving parts in this one but it's sure to provoke a lot of discussion.

I saw this a week ago, and can say I am more then just displeased. It should have been an open and shut case for the photographer. What a screw up on the part of the judge.

It's not surprising that the photography websites have picked up this story, but I don't think there is anything in this rather obscure lawsuit for anyone to be concerned about. See my earlier comments on this case here. (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=125685.msg1053906#msg1053906)

The US Postal Services has to pay $3.5 million for unauthorized use of a photo they used in their stamps of the Statue of Liberty. $3.5 million!!! I wish they'd steal one of mine.

I've paid copyright fees now and then and it was never so much asked that I thought they didn't deserve it. It can be frustrating when you want to pay and can't find anyone to ask.
