Title: Very early morning in Abruzzo Gran Sasso

It's some years ago that I visited Abruzzo in late May (running a workshop). It's a wonderful place with mountains and rolling hills. When the conditions are right the colourful light comes in and outlines the hills in the soft light. It's always a delicate effort to process this in a way to conveys the feeling of the light in the very early morning as the light differences are huge. The best way to view it is to click through to Flickr and click once more to get the dark borders to avoid too much white around the image. Abruzzo is not well known and to my knowledge I'm the only one running workshops there except perhaps some Italians.

 Another beauty Hans, reminds me a bit of the Smoky Mountains here in the USA. Guys, do have a look at the rest of the shots on Flicker...STUNNING!!!

Thanks very much. For this shot I was there alone on the top of a hill at 5:16 in the morning after driving for about 45 minutes and walking for about 15 minutes. It was quiet (very) with no wind, a bit chilly and it was wonderful to just see the light coming gradually. Even if I had no camera with me it would have been wonderful. I like a lot to shot with the groups on my workshops, but I also like to go alone like this before the group arrives. I always go and check out some spots I have not visited before.
