Yes. There's a word for that, but I don't want to use it.

I've done similar things with eyes before and thought it was cool, then I thought better of it.  I have seen it done well, but I don't think it works generally and I don't think it's needed here.

You're right. They worked in this one (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=103108.msg845842#msg845842), but not here.
