Nothing confusing or putting on airs.

If you don't mind me commenting, i liked the other picture (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=124726.0) a lot better than this one.

The other image depicts that bit of madness where the entire world seems to lean over in the same direction as the madman trying to convince the world around him to follow his lead. The dynamic comes from the expressiveness and the composition supports the story. That's street for me.

The picture presented here however, seems to lack story and congruency. At least it is not obvious to me and the composition isn't particularly attractive enough to capture my interest long enough to try and convince myself there is something to be learned here about life or the social landscape.

Was that a reasonable critique?

It is of course just my personal opinion. Everyone's milage will vary...

I like both. They would work well as a pair.

(This one get's me thinking of Jeff Wall's 'street' pictures - 'Mimic' etc.)

No problem. In fact when I viewed the set of that subject I thought the same as you. But I’m now seeing both as having separate meanings. One thing is I have difficulty processing color, even after 8 years with digital. Now that the second one is public, of course now I see where it needs work.

If you don’t mind, check back later in an hour and let me know if the changes help.

Thanks. As a pair, it doesn’t bother you that one is B&W and the other color?

The colour does look a bit wonky on this one.

If shown as a pair, it might be better it they were both in colour (or in b&w).

It's a bit fanciful, but I see the other picture as the female passerby's point of view.

I would make it Square and crop out the lady. That leaves a detached image. I like it. Could use a bit more punch in the shadows I think.

Keep the lady :)

Heh, yes the lady stays. But I did lower the darks and decreased the orange saturation. I like your view that in this version it is the lady who commands.
