Penguins together.

Cool! :) A couple of suggestions (which you can always ignore, of course):

In the first shot, I would crop out the top two indistinct penguins and also crop off some of the bottom to create a landscape aspect ratio. I don't think top or bottom is contributing. In the second shot, my monitor shows a slight blue tinge, and slight vignetting (right-side in particular). I'd consider using a gradient to reverse vignette the background/foreground snow to full white. Then, perhaps, explore how much you need at top and bottom.

Very cool, both.
I think JNB's suggestions are good.

JNB and Eric, thank you for your helpful comments.

Image §1, I have tried many crops, and your suggestion works well.

Image §2, I think it is a white balance issue.  The embedded jpeg in the nef has better colour than Capture One's interpretation, and I can improve this in the C1 WB section.

In the first one, I like the explicit lack of detail in the white of the snow giving the proper contrast to the color and texture of the birds.

The splash of poo color in the ssecond one works nicely as well!  ;D

I remember my trip to antarctica fondly whenever i see other shots from there.

I can also still smell the poo in my mind as well!! I will never forget how it slaps you in the face as you get that first whiff.

I wanted to find a dirty baby diaper to put over my nose to block that smell!! :o :o
