Title: The Arch at Gatklettur, Iceland
Post by: Vieri Bottazzini on April 04, 2018, 03:27:24 am
Today, something from Iceland: The Arch at Gatklettur, here portrayed at sunrise during one of the Workshops I led in Iceland last December is one of the lesser known - but not less amazing - beautiful landscapes of Iceland. With the Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.

Thank you for viewing, best regards

I like the synchronism between the movement of the water through the arch and the clouds. The soft tones are exquisite - cold and warm.
Well done!

Indeed. All the elements pulled together nicely. Beautifully seen and executed!

Good capture of an impressive landscape. A lot of your images seem to lack elements for sense of scale. The water beneath the arc looks slightly incongruent though.

I am afraid that it is too "calendar-ish" for my tastes. But, if that's what you were after, then you did a great job.

We missed this when in Iceland recently. I bet the Icelanders have some myths about how trolls are involved!

Fortunately, I am not envying.... :) :)then for me it's only a pleasure.
Viewing your images, I continue to ask myself if the (IMHO) evident quality is composition, or sensor/lenses choice, or tone/colours management
in PP.  I think all of them, at the orders of your good taste.   Very good. All the best,
sandro

Very nice, Vieri. Is this the place I described as Arnarstapi (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=116356.msg959540#msg959540)? If so, you certainly had better weather than we did.

Than you very much Guido, glad you liked it :)

Thank you Oscar, glad you enjoyed it! :) The water is choppy and rippled by the wind, and I didn't want to use too long a shutter speed here to make it too "silky", I preferred to keep structure in the water.

:) Thank you very much indeed Sandro for your comment, much appreciated indeed! Btw - living envy-free is... enviable (pun intended), not everyone can do that :)

Thank you Jeremy! Yes I think it is the very same arch, wish you better weather next time (even though your weather offered lots of drama possibilities)! :)

Best regards,

Vieri
