If you are a landscape photographer then you are certainly familiar with Eliot Porter. My friend and fellow workshop instructor Hans Strand shares with us an article about how he has been influenced by Eliot Porter's work in today's article A Homage To Eliot Porter (https://luminous-landscape.com/a-hommage-to-eliot-porter/)

Then link took me to Error 404 page not found notice.

Works fine here, and did when it first went up earlier...
-
Maybe its been fixed by now but I was able to get to with no problem. :o
-
Just pinged it again - no cigar.
-
Kevin's link had a small misspelling.
The correct link is: https://luminous-landscape.com/a-hommage-to-eliot-porter/

Super - that works. Thanks so much for discovering that.
-
Should be fixed now. Not sure what happened but I just relinked and it looks like it is good to go.
-
Thanks for publishing Hans' article. It has been my privilege to shoot with Hans on a few occasions and I really appreciate his work and also the understanding of nature and physics that underlies it. (I might also mention that he is great company :-) )

Good stuff, and Porter-esque for sure.

I had the privilege of meeting Eliot Porter at a National Press Photographers Association convention in Jackson Hole in 1975. He was gracious and ready to answer any questions any of the young photographers had. For years afterward I'd think of things I'd wish I'd asked him but I was a little starstruck at the time.

The misspelling of 'homage' is the issue. It says 'Hommage' in the headline (and the link...). Be good to fix the headline at least.
-
Yes, Eliot Porter's work is distinguished and refined. I gravitate towards the 'abstractions in landscape' style heavily. It is not in-your-face, impress you in 3-seconds type of work. You have to look and live with such a print at least for some minutes to 'see' it. This characteristic makes it incompatible with the current click culture.

Elliot and younger brother Fairfield, were amazing artists of the 20 Century. Here is a Bio link of the Porter boys and family history.

Hans Strand was one of the first photographers that organically caught my eye as a newbie photog and now I see the connection as I've been a huge fan of Eliot Porter's work as well. Both have brought joy visually and influence of my own work as well. Great Article!!
