Title: Let's talk monitors
Post by: danielc on March 13, 2018, 07:36:12 am
Hi all,

I'm currently running a Dell U2711 that's about 9 or so years old.

My usage is mixed between photograph editing, general usage and gaming.

It's time to get a new monitor. The primary reason for the new monitor is photo editing, and the main reason for the upgrade is size, 27 just doesn't cut it any more.

The photos I produce are generally for web viewing and printing on wide format printers. I primarily edit in AdobeRGB, even though my current monitor has only 93% aRGB coverage. I have no problem with my current monitors colours.

The obvious upgrades are the 32" photo monitors such as the Benq, Dell or Asus. (Without spending stupid money on NEC or Eizo)

But i primarily work on panorama images of 2:1 or 3:1 ratios and the ultrawide monitors look very appealing.

I've found one or two with aRGB of 93%+ including the insane new Samsung 49" widescreen.

Does anyone use one of these or an I am idiot for going anything but a dedicated 99% argb monitor?
