His commissioned work on the factories in the Ohio River valley is magnificent (Akron Museum of Art and the book is entitled "Factory Valleys"); unfortunately it's not available any longer and my copy just keeps appreciating in value (a good reason to collect photography books!!!).  Maybe a little known fact, his son Erik is a first class musician and you should give 'Block Ice and Propane' a listen to.

Thanks Rob. It's nice to get reacquainted with Friedlander's work. One of the greats.
