Just the last couple days, hitting the 'post' button takes a good 20-30 seconds to take effect. Something new on this end. Anyone else?
-
I haven't seen any issues with posting on my end. However, we did move the forum to a newer server over the weekend. I'll point out your comment to our web guys just in case there is something they should be looking at.
-
I agree with Andrew - I've been noticing exactly the same.
-
I've noticed as well. Also, sometimes get multiple postings of the same thing.

too many people are agitated in the covfefe corner... I suggest to impose a hard limit - not more than 1 posting to that section per day ...

Yes, I found this as well IF I jump the gun on waiting 30 seconds and just cancel. The canceled, the post appeared.
Any chance those seeing slower speeds posting are using Safari?
-
No I don't use Safari. I use Firefox.
-
Hi All,
I'm on Chrome and have the same issues...
Best,
Peter

Testing the post timing.

This has been reported to our web team. We are looking into things. I’ll get back with a report when I hear something

Check 1...2...

Try starting a new topic - it is very slow to respond
-
Notifications are wonky too. I got a few many hours after they were posted. That said, the last few posts I made today seemed a lot faster.
At least we know it's not users browsers.
-
Not sure if this will help, but seems some forums are faster than others and this is somewhat intermittent. This forum was very fast, like normal with my previous post. This one took a long time.
-
Well, the replies I posted to the "Test" topic worked very fast, but another reply I posted responding to Andrew in the "Softproofing" thread took a long time to post. Maybe it's the different livelineess of the topics that causes the differences? :-)
-
Thank God for all the above posts!
I had thought it was me again, and my computerophobia!

Same experience here this morning. Post took about 30 seconds to load.

testing from quick reply

Just posted in the Printing forum, yes its a bit slo.

not slow at all

not slow at all
Seems to depend on the actual forum, maybe time of day or alignment of the stars. Sometimes it's normal. Sometimes really slow. There's a bug lurking somewhere.
-
It displays various symptoms. A Printing Forum post with two small images embedded just took 30 seconds to upload for the first preview. A subsequent brief text edit uploaded instantly as was normal. Finished editing, the final "Post" command took 30 seconds again.
Posts to this forum are immediate.
-
In recent days for me it has taken typically from 15 to 25 seconds for a post to appear. Shortly after this thread started, things seemed to get much better for a day or two, so I assumed the problem was fixed. But today it has been quite slow again.
I will time this post to se how long it takes, and then edit it to report the time it took.
-Eric
P.S. it took about four seconds, whiich is good enough. Most of my slower recent posts did not include images either.
-
It is extremely annoying, really, to have to wait up to 30 seconds for any reaction from the site, not knowing what is going on.
Fix it, people!

Yes sir! Apologies for this. For what you're paying to be here, there's no excuse for making you wait as long as 30 seconds of your valuable time. :'(

I'm considering paying an extra $3 to upgrade my membership to the Speed Demon level with guaranteed max of 20 seconds per post. :D
P.S. This post took a record (for me) 45 seconds to post! :(
-
Our web guys have been looking at this. From my end and theirs using various machines at different locations, we are not seeing an issue. Jacob and Andrew are aware of things and as always we will get it figured out.
-
Same delay experienced also when posting from Canada.
For a moment, I worried that the delay affects only the northerly locations or politically incorrect posts. But if it's happening also to others, it could be a Russian interference.
-
Just posted in the Capture One forum, took 28 seconds. No photos in my post but I did quote someone else’s post. Could it be associated with quoting another post?
Dave
Edit: this post took only 9 seconds. I don’t know what the forum population is Europe vs Americas vs other areas, but it is 5:30am on the east coast so I doubt there are a lot of users from North America right now.

Net Neutrality >:(
Edit: So much for my quoting idea. This post was less than 10 seconds.

Well, if three bucks extra is all you guys are prepared to pay for the Speed Demon Level, just shows how much it's worth to you............there's "revealed preference" at work. :-)

Are you suggesting that I am not paying?

I'm suggesting you're ranting, impatient and not at all helpful in aiding our hosts here in rectifying the issue with your post. Nothing new..... ;D
-
Let's not go crazy. Let our guys poke around as they have been and see if they can fix things if they are broken. We have a good team and as in the past they usually track the issue down and take care of it. Let's leave it at that. when they report back to me I'll post something here. In the meantime, we know that some people are having issues that cannot always be duplicated in time to post. That's what makes it hard to identify is getting it duplicate or happen regularly.
-
One thing I'd add is sometimes, after the initial post, if I attempt to edit the text, it updates faster than the first time I post. Not sure if that's a useful tidbit or not.
Yeah, it's sometimes sluggish but it's not the end of the world and I suspect your team will find the issue.
-
It feels like either a DB issue (but I don't know if you have separate DBs for each forum or not - if not, then it's not a DB issue, probably), or a caching/proxy issue (I don't know if you use external services like Cloudflare, for example).
It's not quite random, but it doesn't seem to matter about site traffic (being in Australia, I'm often on when relatively few people are showing as being on). I had one instance of it telling me I couldn't post within 30 seconds (or was it 60?) of a previous post even though I hadn't previous posted that day. When I checked by opening the forum in another tab, the post had gone through.
I agree with others who've said that once you post you often can then post without delay for a while. That feels like a DB issue relating to a server either waking up that DB from disk or caching it locally (as opposed to a general network caching or proxy issue).

Testing time to post...(30 seconds)

Looks like they may have found the issue. Let's us know if you see improvement or still experiencing issues.

As of a post I made minutes ago on my iPhone; NOT fixed. :-\
-
Thanks for checking. We will continue to try and track this down.
-
Test post.
-
This is another test along with hopefully some useful data too.
Chris, I just a moment ago got the email notification about the NRA post being locked, but I'm pretty sure I saw that happen yesterday. So notifications via email are also not behaving as they used to FWIW.
EDIT: THIS post updated super fast! ;D
-
This is a test.
-
Last post I made in a forum that was slow in the past was lickety-split! I think thus far, you got it. :-*
-
When editing a post it's instant, and has been all along for me.
Peter
-
Knock wood but I think you got it Chris. Site is much more responsive when posting. Thanks team.
-
I believe we have this issue fixed. Once the web team was able to experience the problem they were able to track it down. All should be good now.
-
It's been consistently quick for me now.
Thanks to the team!
