Terrific! Love the lighting; almost surreal. This should be in the Landscape Showcase section.

I've no doubt the admin could relocate it if necessary.

And thanks all for the positive comments

Well done, Bill. It goes beyond the "ain't this pretty" variety of tourist photography we see far too much of on LuLa, especially in the landscape section.

Not everybody can come up with dramatic B&W to meet a certain standard

No, they certainly can't. But that doesn't seem to keep them from posting.

Maybe because there is no standard and some are here to have fun and learn on the way.

Can I just point out that I didn't post this as a vehicle for criticism of other people's photography, but for constructive critique of my own work. Not wanting to put ideas into people's heads, I said nothing about my concern that maybe the sky was a little too dramatic & whether I should tone it down a bit, but now I've said it. Whaddya think?

The sky's dramatic, Bill, and pretty obviously intensified. But it fits the scene perfectly. It's even in the right place -- up at the top.

And where is this "standard" to come from, Armand? You don't learn visual art by posting, unless your posts receive informed criticism, which won't happen on LuLa. Even then, you don't really learn art that way. If you "learn" it at all, you learn it by looking.

I agree with Russ. With no visible local contrast edges, and the light on the land, it all looks believable. Maybe the vignetting is debatable, but I could certainly understand it as an artistic choice. The only minor niggle might be that the clouds are relatively unfocussed.

Phew. I get that bit wrong so often.

Bill, I love dramatic b&w skies and this is great example. I've seen quite a few here which have been overdone; this isn't one of them.

I too agree with the other esteemed critics here: The sky is just right for the scene.
