The hardness and busyness of the water distracts me from the delicate texture and wispy form of the clouds.

I love the side lighting. I agree about the busy water. In addition, maybe shoot a longer exposure?

I'd not really considered the conflict you mention, I must confess. Does this address it?

Maybe make it into a "pano" by cropping at the base of the land ?
