Title: Final bubbles of 2017
Post by: MattBurt on January 02, 2018, 04:15:24 pm
I took this on the 30th. Building on my previous attempts I added a green gelled off-camera speedlight and fired it once on each side (L/R) of the camera to get the glow during the exposure (30s).
Happy New Year!

Thank you both! I'm getting a 20x30 metal print of this one. I think the metal will really help it glow.

What!! Did you guys just a do a toast without me?? The image is so fine, so you are all forgiven. Now I will have shot of Macieira that I got for Christmas and toast Matt and the wonderful frozen bubble phenomenon.

Thanks!
...and since I wouldn't want you to drink alone, I'll raise a glass of Doublewood in your direction when my work day is done.

Cool idea to use flash, the previous bubbles were very good already, but this is even better!

Thanks everyone! I was pretty pleased with the result too. We are supposed to finally get some more snow this weekend so the bubbles may be going away for a while until some new sections of lake freeze over. Right after I sharpened my skates!

Kevin, if you ever want a little tour of the area or a ice bubble Safari, drop me a line! :)
