Title: Barrens Tree in reverse
Post by: churly on November 01, 2017, 05:03:19 pm
Ok a bit of a cludge but I think that the tonality of this shot is better in negative than positive.

We spent a few hours picking wild cranberries for Christmas dinner last weekend and I couldn't resist this tree.  It is a larch that does what it can in the wind of the Avalon Barrens.

Hope you are familiar with Monty Python...
"The Larch!"
I like the negative look as an alternative.

I like it. The only bit that jars a little is the bright white area to the lower centre-right.

Spooky! The idea of inverting the image is brilliant.

Apologies for the slow reply.  Thanks for having a look and your comments.  I think I will go back and deal with the technical issues with the tonal balance and masking.  My first response to this when I sketched it out was 'roll out the black velvet for a cheesy hotel room wall filler.
