Title: 2 Mouth Lakes

One of the most beautiful lakes in the Selkirk Range(IMO). Last hike for me of the season as it takes 3 hours to walk in and the first real snow is predicted for this Friday. This was taken Sunday afternoon 10/8. JPeg from Fuji X-T1 with graduated neutral density filter. As always c&c appreciated.

Nice photo.

I would simply open a bit the shadows in the trees, not too much to keep the contrast of the orange-yellow grass.

The trees are almost black here, really need to brighten those. Everything else is good indeed.

Thanks for the feedback. The darkness of the shadows is an area I struggle with ,especially where sunlit clouds are also in the picture. Perhaps a higher stop level of filter( I used a 6 stop). I also wonder about the dynamic range of this camera. Back out and more practicing!

I haven't opened the raw file, this is still the jpg. Did some with it but I believe the large tree shadow is going to resist processing at least in the jpg mode.

Seems like the 2nd is brighter overall and especially at the base of the trees - all of which were okay in first place. The dark tops of the trees are still there. Maybe the raw allows more. But perhaps the contrast of the scene really was too big. Doesn't look like "easy" light.

I’d leave the overall exposure alone and just see if there’s a bit more shadow detail to be had in the RAW. If not, the photo still works for me.

Yes. I wondered about the shadows on first seeing this but came to think that they fit with the sun's direction.
