Indeed... the last couple of years have been sad, with so many great ones gone.

This one surprised me. So sad but wow, what a legacy he leaves us with. We are certainly fortunate for that.

RIP Tom Petty

I saw Tom Petty play in Carbondale, IL in what I think was 1983.  What a powerful and tight show it was. Mr. Petty was young and unforgetable on stage.  I was only a junior in high school.  Hearing of his death is truely sad.

This one hit me hard. Petty, Walsh, Browne and the Eagles have been my core ever since I can remember a remote interest in music.

Petty was my Dylan.

Petty was a fine songwriter with great taste in guitars & amps.

Let me point out that Giacomo Puccini is gone too. Another sad loss, even without guitars and amps.

Shall we shed a tear for the first human ever to whistle a melody while we’re at it?

I’m pretty sure it was Tom Petty who put Rickenbacker on the map for me. I knew George Harrison and Roger McGuinn played Rickie 12 strings, but I don’t think it registered that mere mortals like myself could play a Rickie too ‘til I saw the Damn The Torpedoes album cover and heard those songs.
