Title: Question on Library and filter in C1
Post by: agbas on September 22, 2017, 09:44:49 pm
My Catalog consists of All Images, Recent Imports, User Collections and Folders. In the folders there is In Catalog and then the drives, say M drive. In M drive I have a folder, Photographs, and in that folder there are sub folders by year, 2015,2016,2017 etc and then in the year there are sub folders which are set out according to the event or place and date, sometimes with subfolders.
The all images has the full count of images, say 15000.In the folders the In Catalog shows 0, and in the M drive my Photographs folder has 0, and each of the sub folders, 2015,2016,2017 each also show 0, and it is not until I go to an event or place sub folder that I find any images.
If you looked at my M drive Photographs and with the sub folders 2015,2016a and 2017 you would think that there are no images there at all.
This means that if I want to filter a year by say a lens or aperture or some other I cannot do it because there are no images shown there, and so I can only do that for say a place or event folder.
Is this how the catalog works or am I missing something?
Should the years show the totals and have all the images for the year?

Specifically see the section titled "Catalog Considerations". Selecting folders only shows you the contents of that folder not all sub folders. But you can get a view of all photos shot in a year by using the all images collection and then filter by year.

You can even create smart albums based on this search criteria (you can combine your aperture and year and so on). David covers this in a short video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg_3VPDVxPM )
