Hi!
I am wondering whether anybody has first hand experience with the Sony 12-24mm lens? Anybody who owned Nikon 12-24mm or used Canon's 11-22mm wide angle lenses and can compare them to Sony's 12-24mm wide angle lens?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have no first hand experience, but at Fred Miranda you have a long threat that compares the lens to other wide angles http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1498485/0?keyword=Sony,12-24#14097777
Also, lens rentals review has nice graphs https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2017/06/sony-fe-12-24-f4-g-mtf-tests/

Hi,
I remembered that Jim Kasson, that post here in this forum also did a test against the Nikon 14-24

Pretty decent comparison here:

I also compared it to the 16-35GM, at overlapping focal lengths (16-24mm) the 12-24 is much softer in the corners than the 16-35GM. Decided to keep the 16-35 and continue to use the Voigtlander 12mm if I need wider than 16mm as it is much better in the corners. This is on an a7R Mk II.

The Sony 12-24 is miles ahead of the Nikon 14-24, except at f/2.8. ;D
The 12-24 made me sell my WATE.

I love the Voightlander 12mm III. However, it is a manual focus prime with a slow maximum f/5.6. For the type of work I do, it's a great fit. The 12-24mm by all accounts is a great lens. However, being that I already have a Batis 18mm f/2.8, I see no reason to purchase the zoom.

I use the Canon 11-24 for interiors (with the A7R2). It is the best due to its lack of distortion. I bought the 12-24, and it was on par in terms of sharpness. However, the distortion was significant, to the extent of seriously slowing down my workflow. I returned it. It's a great lens for anything other than serious architecture.
