Does anyone know where I can get a replacement bracket or "foot" for my z3100. It seems I have to order the whole basket through HP. It seems this is a common problem since just about every printer I see on Craigslist has the same trouble. I was afraid you might say that.

Bakofan - if you have a drill press and some chisels and a workbench, you could make a copy yourself. Measure the part carefully, drill holes on drill press, then carve the rest. Don't know where you live, but if in US, order a small piece of phenolic resin or similar material from McMaster Carr online.
Or you might be able to find an online 3D printing service where you take several photos of the part- send to them and they make it.
I'd say go with Ernst but shipping from the Netherlands might be prohibitive!!! LOL

Now all you need is the 3D model or your can draft your own with SolidWorks or similar software. Doubt that HP has available the 3D model for download. ;D

Once you have a 3D model - here you go"

Piece of cake!
Wonder if anyone here can make a 3D model of that part? Now that would be cool.
Ernst? You have the part, I bet you know how to make the drawing....
LOL!!

I have the parts in pristine condition functioning on the printer. No need for me to spend several hours to make the 3D design and test it on the 3D printer. I wonder how people get them destructed so fast, mine are resp. 8 and 10 years old.
The worn out ones can be repaired more easily than a 3D one printed I estimate, does not have to be as slick as HP did it. It's basically a hinge. At least that would be my approach when I slip over that basket one day ......
More fun printing lens hoods for adapted lenses and from time to time an adapter;

Wow thanks for all the responses. Mark, I'm in Bakersfield, California.
Ernst, I acquired this printer from a geologist in Los Angeles. Someone walked by the output basket and just tripped over it. I don't understand it, myself.
I think I may send Kai's link over to the local university's engineering lab. They have a 3D printer and since my daughter is a student there, maybe they will accommodate me.
Thanks everyone for your help. I will report back when I have one printed. If I don't, Mark I will try your idea of ordering the resin and just hand tooling a hinge.
