Title: Name that photographer

Many years ago I saw a book of a by an Amercian photographer who shot cityscape on large format cameras with extremely long lenses.  His work looked very distinctive with extreme compressed perspective.  Anyone know the name?

I think the guy I'm looking for was operating much earlier, maybe 40's and 50's.

Thanks for that link, Jim; I'd never heard of the man before.

I enjoyed the first gallery - Early Work - most. The other, wide shots left me wondering why he'd bothered but, at the same time, made me think of today's photographic seamstresses...

Looking closely at that first gallery it becomes clear that America had an entire school of photograhers working with the same mindset; I suppose they all probably knew one another, or at least of one another's work.

On the other hand, maybe it's simply a product of the layout of America's big city streets.

You have to get close to the big contact prints...

My search continues but its great to see other names I have never heard of coming up.
