Are you familiar with Dr Who, Eric?

Inspired by your trip to Nova Scotia?  :)

Sharon, Thank you!

Graeme, Yes, I used to follow Dr. Who regularly several years ago. I haven't checked out the new female Dr. yet, but I did immediately think of the Tardis when I saw this outhouse. Perhaps I should have called it "Portrait of a Tardis."

JNB_Rare, This was actually back home in Massachusetts last week. I'll have to check on the museum on my next trip to Nova Scotia.

Fine image. I'm surprised nobody has complained that the outhouse is too centred.

I've been hoping they would complain. I enjoy causing distress to the rule followers.   ;)

The photo is of a porta-pottie not a true outhouse. Outhouses are not constructed of plastic. ;)

Perhaps I should have called it "Portrait of a Tardis."

Perhaps if the good doctor started to use an outside toilet of this type for his/her inter dimensional time travels, then shouldn't it be renamed as the "Turdis"?

Doctor poo...?

I'll get my coat...

Is that a cemetery in the background, and a ghost over on the right?  ???

In the background is simply a grove of trees on a farm, which also owns the tardis, er, outhouse.
The ghost on the right is the result of my sloppy PS-work to get rid of a few trees to emphasize the symmetry. I should try to clean it up.

That's not an outhouse, Eric. An "outhouse" is made of wood, often shingled, and has a picture of a quarter moon on the door! I know because I used one during the summers when I was a kid in northern Michigan. I don't have time at the moment to search for a picture of one, but I may get time before long and show y'all what a real outhouse looks like.

Here's the real thing -- from Lake City, Colorado. No moon on the door, but everything else is in place.

You've got to watch out for these vandals, Russ. They'll steal the moon right off of your door!

Have you ever read Chic Sale's delightful  monologue about a builder of outhouses, called "The Specialist." One line in it I recall is something about "your typical eight family three-holer."
You would enjoy it.

Eric
