Title: Should Landscape be moved to Art?
Post by: Eric Myrvaagnes on August 24, 2017, 11:26:30 am
It seems to me that the "Landscape and Nature Photography" forum is in the wrong place. It is listed under "Equipment and Techniques," but the overwhelming majority of posts are examples of good photographs, with very little discussion of either Equipment or Techniques.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have "Landscape and Nature Photography" located under "The Art of Photography?"

I don't generally post in the "L & N P" forum because I'm usually not interested in discussions about either Equipment or Techniques, so I generally post in "User Critiques."

Instead of moving the "L & N P" forum, another possibility might be to add a new forum in "The Art of Photography" section, perhaps called something like "Landscape Showcase."

Just my two farthings.

Eric, I agree with you. The L & NP forum has morphed to be almost entirely posted photographs.

The original intention was, I believe, to promote discussion of technique and equipment rather than simply to illustrate.

Let's try your second suggestion and create a new Forum under The Art of Photography to see how it thrives. I will also post a suggestion to redirect posts with photographs there. We could consider splitting the old  L & NP forum later perhaps.
