I made those two in January. Still cannot decide which one I like more.
Any hints welcome, I'm still and always learning.
Thanks for taking a look.

They are both nice but I think I prefer the second. I would clone out that bit of branch in the upper right though.

I like #1. It perfectly captures the feel of a beautiful crisp winter's day.
Reminds me of some of the shots Chairman Bill ( better use his full title ) has been posting: They really capture the feel of a time / place.

+1. There's a nice balance of the openness that S bends through the frame - nice composition and well seen.

I'll vote with Graeme on this. I prefer #1, which just feels right to me.

Thank you!
:-)
I came out of a forest when this view hit me and I knew immediately it would make a fine picture. Good to hear the mood somewhat is there.

Both are great to have, but the first is the more compelling of the two.
any thoughts to a monochrome view?

Yes, I tried, because I was (and still am) a bit unassured about the color of the sky, although I think it's "correct". This is a rather light, slightly toned monochrome. I wanted to grab the "lightness" of the lit snow, don't know whether this works without color, still.

It works. Definitely. And better than the (very good) colour version. I'd be inclined to lower the blue luminance a bit, so the contrasts in the sky are augmented a little.

For me. the first is really nice,... Seems the snow shadow colours could reflect the blue sky a bit more. ... or vice versa?

+1 to this. Just a little darker and a little more sky contrast and this is an excellent mono.
