Have any of you stretched the limits of your MF shooting to go on safari in Alaska/Africa to shoot big cats or bears with the longest reach possible?
And if you were to choose between a Phase One XF IQ3 100mp +240mm+TC1.7 and a Hasselblad H6D 100C+300mm+2xTC for wildlife - african big cats in particular - which would you choose and why?
I know and have used both of these cameras for portrait and landscape shooting -- but my other passion is African Wildlife, particularly big cats. I currently shoot 3 Nikon bodies (D5/D500/D810) and take 600/4, 400/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 all E/FL and a range of TCs with me. While I know that there is no way I can match the reach of my FF DSLRs with a MF body - the above both give me 300mm equivalent - but I am excited to try a new type of shooting for me - landscape & big cats.
Have any of you tried this type of shooting for big carnivores? Any tips?

Honestly I wouldn't want to use either in that case. The 240 is great but with the 1,7 converter it turns to shit. Can't say anything about the Hassi, but I'm pretty sure the quality on the 100MP back isn't great either with the lens and converter.
I honestly don't see the sense in using such a system for that purpose.
Stick with something like an Sony/Nikon/Canon for that purpose. In the end the results will probably be more satisfying.

Don't bother - there isn't a current long lens among the platforms. The closest you'll get is in the Pentax world, with their 800mm lens, which when you factor in crop and that it's a full MF lens, working against a 50mp chip, you're almost back to where you started. Unless you've got a docile or non-moving subject that can handle the clack of a giant mirror, and can get close - as in shooting with a 200-300mm lens, stick with the Nikon gear. How much do you currently shoot at f/8 or f/11?
The only way I'd use a MF camera is shooting at a zoo or preserve, where I can get REALLY close. Otherwise I'm cropping to no end and erasing that added resolution. Looking at the shots, I'd think the tail was moving constantly, so you're up against the max shutter speed of 1/2000th with the Hasselblad lenses (orange square) or 1/4000th focal with the XF. With f/8 you'll be at the top end of the ISO range right?
The shots I'd use MF for is where the cats are part of a larger scene, like a pride chilling under a tree or such, where the framing is wider. That way when printed, you can see the details in the cats, the trees and such. But when you're dealing with weight limits, is it worth the costs?

For the larger scenes I would simply try stitching with your current DSLRs.
