The ability to control Nikon E lenses and to use them with my back is appealing.
But I am a bit unclear about the exact components needed to make this work.
I understand that you need one of the Alpa 12 series camera, the Silex, but I am unclear how the shutter is managed. Is their FPS part mandatory or do they have other shutter options to mount E lenses? Is there a site somewhere summarizing clearly the content of the kit needed to mount, say, a Nikon 105mm f1.4 on a H6D-100c back?
The quality of the recent Nikon lenses is such that this could really be something amazing. It would also open the door to using super tele lenses with backs...

I've been looking into this as well, my understanding is that the following parts are needed :
- Alpa 12 camera
- Digital back adapter
- Silex
- Electronic Lens Adapter (ELA)
- FPS Adapter for the desired lens mount

You left out "An incredible amount of money and overwhelming desire to spend it."
I looked at this recently for a Hasselblad lens and and back and it was much cheaper to use the Hasselblad Tilt shift, which is not cheap.

Thanks Dave, I have seen that, but I feel that they are doing a pretty terrible job as explaining how everything fits together.
This is typical engineers driven marketing where they put their toys forward instead of explaining how to use them. ;)

Regarding the shutter, does the H6D-100c have an electronic shutter option ? Otherwise you'd need the Alpa FPS (real focal plane shutter), and not the Silex.

Yes, it does now have some ability to work without a shutter but only at very limited range of shutter speed that would be incompatible with the kind of applications I have in mind with those great Nikon lenses.
Besides I would still need to be able to control the aperture of those great Nikon.

I have contacted Alpa regarding the Silex and a Hasselblad back because I was interested to see if the functionality would benefit my workflow. Alpa promptly responded and told me they will soon release the product sheets and information containing solutions for a H back. That was in December of 2016, I hope they plan on informing us as to the usefulness of the Silex but as of now it looks like you will need to contact a dealer for the information.
On stand-by at this point waiting for user experience review or Alpa email with understandable information.

This is pretty typical of the speed at which things seem to be moving in the MF world.
By the time an announced product is actually available, fully working from a software standpoint, documented and reasonably well understood by the sales eco-system, 35mm vendors such as Sony have already announced the next gen product... ;)
At least it seems to be the case for the Hasselblad part of the market, I feel that P1 is currently managing this better.
