Title: Users Thoughts on What to Choose...
Post by: spclark on April 05, 2017, 09:24:19 am
... to replace a venerable (approaching 14 years old!) StylusPhoto 2200 Epson that's finally showing signs of failure.

I'm not 'in the business' anymore yet want to keep the 13"x19" capability of long-lasting, quality color printing I've enjoyed for many years.

Price point around $500-600, putting more than one Epson (SureColor P400 and P600) within my reach along with a Canon (Pixma Pro-10) as those currently have rebates available thru April.

Or maybe Epson's Artisan 1430?

Your thoughts please would be welcome.

Check the reviews on the P800 in the Lula Home site. It may well make you lean for that printer.

I had to replace a 2400 last year (it replaced a 2200 before that). I also have a 24" P6000, so I did not really need the 17" capability of the P800 but since the P800 is barely larger than the 2400 and can sit on the same base I have for it, and the other advantages over the P600, plus the rather small price difference over the P600, getting the P800 was a no-brainer. I use it daly and it is working perfectly. As I mentioned in another thread, if I had to keep only one printer, I would let go the 24" one and keep the P800.

If you want long lasting prints the 1430's inkset ( Claria ) isn't usually considered archival. ( But they look very good ).
