Title: Beware of delicate CaptureOne Pro catalogs
Post by: budjames on January 29, 2017, 06:54:05 am
I switched from Lightroom CC to CaptureOne Pro over a year ago. The IQ is way better from my Fuji X RAW files with C1P, now at version 10.

However, I have now experienced catalog corruption several times where the catalog of about 45k+ images fails to open and cannot be verified or fixed. I use the catalogs to reference files stored on an external Thunderbolt RAID 0 external drive in hierarchical folders.

Fortunately, I have my preferences set to make a catalog backup each time I quit C1P. I keep my catalogs in the Pictures folder on my Mac's internal SSD so that they are also backed up with TimeMachine a Thunderbolt attached Drobo. Because of my backup paranoia, it was easy to restore my catalog.

So beware and maintain a rigorous back up strategy to avoid losing all your work.

Bud
