Title: 9890 head replacing?
Post by: Gary Mulcahey on December 29, 2016, 04:28:30 pm
Does anyone have an idea of the cost of a new print head for a 9890? And is a do it yourself kind of replacement if you are somewhat mechanically inclined?

Thanks

Expensive!
Just had my 9900 head replaced along with the left ink bay and docking station.
Head was $1600, total bill $2975.
$125 to come out then $175 an hour, Decision One.
Only reason I did it was I have the 9890 and 9900 with refillable carts and probably 15,000 ml of k3 ink in stock.

Thanks for that Dan. I might as well buy a new/used printer.

No shit. And that is the problem for me with Epson machines, you can't replace the heads without spending more than the printer is worth. And they make almost impossible to do yourself.

Yeah I think Epson is out of the running for my next printer. I will be looking at the HP and Canon large printers. The Canon is very pricey here in Canada so I may be leaning toward the Hp series . Undecided.  :o
