Title: First Drone, with GoPro Hero 5 Session?
Post by: adam tracksler on December 28, 2016, 03:49:52 pm
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it seemed the most appropriate.....

Looking to get a first drone for use with a GoPro Hero 5 Session.

I'd like to be able to add some aerial, and flyover to my offerings.

I know that I'll probably crash a few times, so I'm trying to factor that in.... I figure I could use the winter to get pretty good at piloting and be ready in the spring for shooting......

I was thinking the session would be a better buy than the regular, but it may not be.....if it isnt.... let me know....

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, ad

Drones.  Those are starting to incite some negative responses in my area.  Yes, great opportunities to photograph - but... don't fly them low over others' property or use them as a peeping-tom tool.  A lot of property owners are getting angry at drone operators who use their aircraft in suspicious ways.  And its a good way to lose your expensive device.

Other than that, good luck and get the Session.

I would get a DJI drone with a built in camera, like the Phantom 3 if you want a cheaper one or a Phantom 4. The image quality is much better than anything you would get with a gopro camera. You can have more control over exposure etc. The DJI is really quite easy to fly but get good cinematic and smooth transitions for video take a lot of practice or use a third party app. I started with a drone with a gopro and then moved to a Phantom. World of difference.
