Nice! I would probably crop it more left and bottom.

I like the concept and the result of this peek through the dense foliage/trees.

Agreed. A like able image

Nice light and a subtle view of what (if you live in the area) is a very over photographed rock. I like the foliage frame a lot.

Thanks to all of you for commenting.
My rationale for including so much of the forest was to preserve the "glimpses from the trail" feeling, but upon reflection those of you who suggested a crop may be right. So here is a second version for you to compare and consider.

Love the cropped version. Well done!

Love the crop. Really nice image!
I imagine this isn't how it's typically photographed so kudos for finding a different shot of a popular subject!

The cropped version is an improvement over the original.

+1.

The crop helps us to focus on the beach and the lovely West coast.
-
excellent framing from those trees, wonderful composition and good tones and detail.
All the best,

Thanks again to each of you for weighing in. It looks like it's a landslide vote for the cropped version, with which I now concur.

I don't agree. I think the crop from the left is acceptable, but I don't like the result of cropping off the bottom. I find it draws my eyes to the blurred curved branches, which now emerge from the bottom of the frame; and I don't see that it adds anything at all to the image.
