Title: Issues? E-M5 with Panny 12-35
Post by: bluekorn on December 09, 2016, 04:53:36 pm
I've got it in my head to buy the Oly E-M5 Mk ll. I already own the Panasonic 12-35 2.8. Has anyone had any untoward experiences using this pairing? Thank you.

When I got my E-M5ii there was the opinion that the UV filters or something like it were not on the same page and you got more purple fringing? with the 12-35, so I got the Oly 12-40 instead. I wonder if the E-M1 series have the same issue. Many were happy with the combo though so it might not be such a big deal.

I've never done any actual testing, but I use the E-M5 ii and Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 routinely (probably more than any other lens). My previous body was a Panasonic G3. I haven't noticed anything different or problematic regarding the new lens/body combo, although the E-M5 ii is a significant upgrade from the G3.

The only cross-brand issue I've seen with m43 was when using a Pany 20/1.7 lens on an Oly EM-5 body. There were banding artifacts in some photos, a known problem, so I stopped using that combo.

I used the EM5 Mk1 and MK2 with the Pany 12-35 and had no issues at all, a great pairing, I had the Pany 7-14, 12-35, 35-100 and 100-300 and all worked really well. I no longer have m43 kit< I've Sony stuff now.

I have Panasonic cameras and the 20mm f1.7. I don't think it's only an issue on Olympus cameras as I've seen the banding on higher ISO shots but I was never sure when it would happen. Actually I haven't used that lens in a long time because of the slow focusing and the banding and instead I use an Olympus 17mm f1.8.
