Went to Indianapolis for Art Wolfe's seminar "Photography as Art" and made a couple of architectural vignettes along the way. It was a Red Cross event on the main city square (a circle, actually), hence the red light on the buildings. In the first one, the blue hour and tungsten white balance made an interesting combination. The last one is Art during the seminar.

Great set.

Very cool, Slobodan!
And the silhouette really makes the last one.

Nice images...It was good to see you.

The graphic eye. Good work, and for me, especially the last one down.

+1. Good shooting Slobodan.

Calorie-neutral ride? :)

Delightful.

Nice. I like the first a little less than the others, because of the struggle with the angles between the content and the frame... but still worth grabbing :)

Great to see you shooting again after the move! My favorite is the silhouette of Art.

Funny you say that, as it is my favorite, precisely for the reason that makes it your least one. I typically straighten the lines in an architectural shot (as in the #2 and #3), but here I like the tension, dynamism of the "struggle," as you say, between the lines. Thanks for the comment, by the way, appreciated.

I asked him if he would be bothered by me shooting during the presentation and he replied: "I would be a hypocrite if I would object to a photographer taking pictures." Then he added, publicly: "I have no idea why anyone would want to take a picture of me in total darkness." Minutes before that, he was talking about positive and negative space in a picture, sort of yin and yang. I saw his silhouette as a positive picture element.

Thanks for the back story. That is fascinating.

Good stuff, Slobodan. Your Chicago-trained eye translates well to Indianapolis!

Yes, really fine work! And I agree with your assessment on first image. The issue is, does it work. Intoducing some kind of dynamic to draw viewer into an image is more important than any rules.

The first image was selected as Nominee in the Architecture category of the 11th International Color Awards competition.

Congrats! I didn't see any b+w spiders from you last year now that I think about it though. Sort of surprising. :)

You know what? You are right. Last year I went with people, didn't go so well. I shall stick to architecture. It doesn't talk back ;)

That's because that dude is creepy ;). Kids and animals. And nudes. You'll be golden. :D

Congrats. I am heading over to see the entries and winners.

There's some good work. In all honesty though, as a rule I think their b+w entries in the fall are stronger.

...is it in gamut!?
My favorite is the third--they're all excellent.
