what is a reasonable price for a used Phase one IQ 160 with a basic warranty?
-
Are you selling or buying?
-
Does it still have warranty left ? My honest guess would be around 7-10k

From e-bay:
Sold:US $6,119.23 PhaseOne p65+ Mamiya Digital Back (noted to have IR filter "marks")
Offered: Buy it now: H fit EUR 7,000.00
EUR 9,300.00 Contax 645 fit
If you want to buy with warranty you need a dealer, and a deeper pocket than this.

I guess, with the Fuji GFX-50s coming and the adapters for lenses expected for it, the S/H market will be flooded by CCD MFDBs at even better prices than one can get now...

If the prices fall, (even further), sellers may well decide that it's not worth selling, especially if they bought at "full price" whatever that was with Phase. Predicting a fall in price of S/H digital is a non-brainer though ;)

Yes I agree... LV (which comes with Cmos) has changed everything, MF is traditionally related with performing demanding tasks and high quality LV is a crucial factor in achieving these tasks... High ISO and anything else related with modern sensors is less crucial as one would prefer his DSLR for these anyway... but integrating an (expensive) device that its LV can't perform well its too much to ask these days...

Forgot to add that while Phase still offer a trade in value that will put a bottom price on S/H stock. Applies to Hasselblad as well, where at least the trade is open and visible:
H6D-100c (no lens) trade-in from Competitor 30MP> £18,100.00 (full price Hasselblad H6D-100c CMOS (no lens) - 100MP CMOS sensor £23,900.00) for the mathematical challenged a competitor back is worth £5,800.
(All prices ex VAT sales tax reclaimable by business)

Yes, but lets not forget that H6D prices are expected to start falling soon after the H6D promotions are over... First, H6D-50s that are now traded for H6D-100 are going to hit the market at a price relative to H5D-50 and after this stock expires, the H6D-50 is expected to gradually replace the H5D on around the same price level that the H5D-50 now has, with H6D-100 following a proportional path... Clearly H5D is a platform under replacement for Hasselblad... It clearly seems to me that in P1 they misjudged the demand for CCD sensors after CMOs appeared... LV... that's the "key" function... and then "video"...

Looks like the list price versus real price gap is very a very pronounced difference in medium format.

Until he realizes that whatever full price he paid has become sunk cost, and that the longer he holds off from selling, the more depreciation he suffers, and his digital back is on the irreversible way to become e-waste.
-
A dealer here (UK) has a D1X for £139, interestingly an F5 as well for £179 ;D
E-waste is not confined to MFD.

It's interesting to see that what generation of cameras and backs are falling off the wagon, price-wise.
Last week a Hasselblad H3DII-50 went for 3500$ on eBay, currently a H4D-50 is at 4500$.
With Hasselblad I feel that TrueFocus/Non-Truefocus is one divider, and the amount of sealing between h4d and h5d.
With backs the zone for Phase One seems to start with the P45+ - Two Hasselblad H2 + P45+ for 5000$ and no takers. Not sure if it was the P45+'s fault of the Hasselblad H2D's.
The next push will be when more people are upgrading to the X1D and may sell their larger Hasselblads.
Phase One backs seem to hold out longer in price... IQ 160 is still crazy expensive - seen it for 15 000$ at dealers or for 18 000$ with DF+ and an 80mm lens on eBay.

And there was me thinking the H4D/H5D divide was the in-camera jpeg :o

IQ160's price will go down when Fuji and Hasselblad, or whoever, introduces 54x40 sensor size into their mirrorless affordable systems. Also, when Phase One decides to lower IQ1 100MP's price, because it is still too expensive.
I paid IQ160 around 20000$ about five, six years ago. It was a "game changer" in my workflow and in my photography style, look etc(going from FF to true MF). And it was worth every penny. Now, they ask for about the same amount of money to upgrade from 60MP to 100MP of the same sensor size. It wouldn't be a game changer for me, so I won't upgrade.
I don't think IQ160 is crazy expensive. It is still one of the few 54x40 MF sensors on the market.

What was the key reason not to buy a Hasselblad 60 MP back - which has the same sensor size?

I think Phase One backs are better integrated with view cameras, which I mostly use in the studio.
